South Australians collecting books for victims of the Victorian bush fires

books are streaming in + transport in place

Last two days have been quiet on this blog, but not in our place!

Books keep on streaming in and we probably have 20 or 30 more boxes. It is hard to count all these books, but definitely there are now more than 10,000 in our staging area. Edwin and Fred now started organising the transport to the Melbourne area. One challenge at a time is what the Zen master said.

Our books wholesaler, Brumby Books and Music, www.brumbybooks.com.au, have kindly supported us from the beginning and now will provide us with some extra storage space in their warehouse in Kilsyth South, near the Dandenong ranges, which is an excellent location for the distribution to the affected areas. Yesterday I found a message in my inbox from the managing director of Hay House, Leon: call me, which I did. He had heard of our efforts and donated many more new books for the people who need them very much right now. We are overwhelmed by your generosity, thank you. Please visit them on www.hayhouse.com.au .

While typing this blog, Fred called me: Transport arranged! The manager of Booth Transport (www.boothtransport.com), Cameron, very kindly offered to transport pallets full of boxes with books from South Australia to Victoria. We are definitely going Monday morning!

Our next challenge is the distribution, done some calling around, but we leave that till tomorrow. Tonight we’ll have to move all the boxes from our staging area at VANREE Software Consultancy to Dogridge and put them on the pallets; they have a forklift to get these pallets in the truck.
