Yesterday, on the day the song “Age of Aquarius” came to life, we were blown away by the generosity of people in Willunga and surrounds. We got up 6am and parked the trailer in front of the Willunga Library, opposite the Green Room. We just left the back of the trailer open all day and Sue and Doug of the Green Room kindly kept an eye on it and helped in organising the load. In the mean time Petra and Edwin distributed the last posters in Willunga and thanks to all who put up this poster.

At the end of the day the trailer looked like this:

After that we drove back to our home and unloaded all boxes into our workshop. You probably remember the first load we placed there, have a look now:

Finishing touches to the signs on the trailer

Finishing touches

The trailer, kindly donated by Brooks Trailers on Main South Rd in Morphett Vale, has been sleeping in the workshop of the SignBoys in McLaren Vale. This afternoon we went over to see the last bit of work done to it and the result is truely magnificent. Colin Smith and his team worked effortlessly and had 3 sides of the trailer beautifully signed. On the right you see David finishing the third and last side.

Perfect job done, the entire SignBoys team, in front of the Book Donations trailer:

Late this afternoon we spent half an hour to spread some of the extra printed posters, this time by Raine & Horne in McLaren Vale, thanks heaps for that! Many of the businesses in McLaren Vale on the Main Rd have a poster. We got an extra Drop Off Location in McLaren Vale: McLaren Vale Continental Delicatessen & Cafe, thanks Steve.

Most Drop Off Point have received their boxes with posters today. We added 5 more drop off locations to the list, thanks!

We cleaned our workshop / garage and that has been converted to temporary storage for all the books. The pile is growing already, after 2 days we have around 20 boxes with donated books. A good start!

Yesterday we discussed the horse float we were going to use and checked the weight it could carry. The float has no breaks and is therefor limited in the weight we can put in there. So the thought was sent into the universe and in the afternoon, while talking to my good friend John Weber of WFA Surveyors in McLaren Vale, he suggested to give Malcolm a buzz. We did that straight away and he directly donated his biggest covered trailer, from Brooks Trailers in Morphett Vale.

In mean time nearly all the Drop Off Boxes have been distributed and in that process my car is filled with books again! Thanks thanks thanks.

At the moment the trailer has been dropped of at the Signboys in McLaren Vale who kindly will stick great signage on the trailer.

Today we already have received more than 10 boxes of books, with a lot of children books. It is starting well!

Also today we got many boxes in and the posters with the appeal text and many of these boxes have been delivered to the Drop Off Locations. Tomorrow morning I will do the rest.

We, Edwin and Petra, live in South Australia, Willunga and got a wild idea on Monday morning:

Collect as many books and bring them to the mums and dads and kids in Victoria – Australia.

This idea is now taking shape and we have created a poster, organised many drop-off points in the area, set a date: 23 February we leave, ordered 1000 new books (“A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle), set this blog up. Yesterday Fred of Dogridge came in, just out of the blue, haven’t seen him for a year or so, and he was the greatest help to get things off the ground.

Just got a phone call from the McLaren Vale & Fleurieu Visitors Centre: they already have multiple boxes with books ready!
